NRCS PARTNERS WITH ICRC AND SAVE THE CHILDREN TO PROVIDE NON-FOOD ITEMS, NFIs TO PERSONS AFFECTED BY VOILENCE IN PLATEAU STATE.

The Nigerian Red Cross Society, NRCS, with support from the International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC and Save the Children International recently distributed non-food items to 900 households in both Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria

The Nigerian Red Cross Society, NRCS, with support from the International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC and Save the Children International recently distributed non-food items to 900 households in both Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria.

This is in the wake of conflicts and violence leading to the loss of lives, property and means of livelihood as well as displacement in these Local Government Areas.

Items received by each household who were registered by Save the Children : 4 Mats, 5 Blankets, 2 Mosquito nets, 5 reusable sanitary pads, 1 camping bed, 2 sets of wrappers, 1 set of kitchen utensils (pots, plates and each contains 4 Mats,5 Blankets, 2 Mosquito nets, 5 reusable sanitary pads, 1 camping bed, 2 sets of wrappers, 1 set of kitchen utensils (pots, plates and cutlerys), 5 bars of washing soap,1 Solar lamp,1 Rubber bucket and a set of 25ltrs jerrycans), 5 bars of washing soap,1 Solar lamp,1 Rubber bucket and a pair of 25ltrs jerrycans.

These items were neatly packed in a jumbo sack arranged orderly for the representatives of each household to quickly pick up after being re-validated. The re-validation became necessary given the space of the number of days between the registration and the actual distribution exercise and to ensure the items are handed to the actual representative/household registered initially.

It would be recalled that reports of violent attacks in both Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of Jos, Plateau State Nigeria flooded the media on Christmas eve, December 24th, 2023.
