    The Nigerian Red Cross society (NRCS) was established by an Act of Parliament in 1960 as an auxiliary to the Government in Humanitarian Services. The Act empowers the Society to support the Government in response to disasters, emergencies in the implementation of the  Geneva convention and its additional protocols which the Government of the Federation has acceded to. In 1961, following the official recognition by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent, Nigerian Red Cross Society became 86th member Nation of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

    In a bid to continue the fight against COVID-19, volunteers in Adamawa state took advocacy to another level as they donated face masks and hand sanitizers to seven (7) media houses.

    Presenting the items, the volunteers underscored the need to put them to proper use. They noted that quite a few people tend to wear the masks under their chins or even remove them. They explained how to wear the face mask correctly saying it must cover the nose as well as the chin.
